Rise Squad: Ages 9 years to 11 years old

Ballet

The focus for ballet for ages 9 to 11 shifts toward working all basic leg positions in relevé and introducing turning techniques. Coordination between arms, legs, and head becomes essential, as well as balance and stability. Each exercise is accompanied by classical music to develop a sense of rhythm and musicality. At this level, students begin their introductory pointe work, which marks a milestone in their training. Dancing en pointe brings a magical quality to movement, allowing students to express elegance and virtuosity with strength and confidence.

Tap

Tap for ages 9 to 11 expands upon more intricate rhythms, speed changes, and movement combinations. Students focus on dynamics, syncopation, and articulation. Exercises include pullbacks, drawbacks, and faster time steps. Emphasis is placed on performance quality and musical interpretation. Let’s go, Rise Squad!

Jazz

Jazz for ages 9 to 11 builds foundational skills with increased complexity in technique and choreography. Students work on strength, extension, dynamics, and stylization. They learn longer sequences and explore elements of performance, including facial expression and storytelling through movement. Across the term, students refine transitions and movement clarity. All that jazz!

Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop for ages 9 to 11 will work to refine their technique and expand their hip-hop vocabulary. The class includes routines, coordination challenges, and intro-level popping. Musicality, expression, and confidence are central to this stage, as students begin to perform choreographed pieces with attitude and precision. Partner work and group exercises encourage teamwork and stage presence.
