Why does darkness and certain colored lighting help me during my time to heal?

This question was part of the inspiration that allowed the owner of Rise Mvmt Studio to dig deeper into why dancing in dimmed lighting helped her maneuver through her emotions. She soon discovered that there is indeed scientific evidence that lighting has a significant impact on how you feel and function. The lighting system incorporated at Rise Mvmt Studio was a main piece of the puzzle in creating a certain “vibe” or mood. There are over 16 million customizable colors that can set the tone for any given class at the studio.

Several modern studies have proven the incredible impact of colored lighting on heart rate, circadian rhythms, and overall mood. Many colors of the visible light spectrum have beneficial effects namely reducing anxiety and improving mood by stimulating certain brain functions.

/ GREEN

In addition to its soothing psychological connections with nature, bathing in green light may help us to produce a hormone called melanopsin, which helps regulate our circadian rhythms.

Green wavelengths may also help reduce pain, making it a good choice both for resetting your sleep patterns and treating things like sore muscles, headaches, and joint pain that could prevent you from getting enough rest.

Regardless of shade, green light color and be healing and is one of the most relaxing for the eye.

Anyone who’s experienced anxiety knows that it often comes with the side effect of having a shorter temper and an increased tendency toward aggressive behavior. That’s because those experiencing anxiety don’t feel safe and are trying to protect themselves by ushering others away.

The color pink and pink wavelengths of light are often used to help reduce feelings of anger and aggression. This cozy-rosy hue doesn’t stimulate the brain as much as other colors might, reducing tension and feelings of being overstimulated.

Pink light may also help regulate blood circulation and rid the body of toxins!

And believe it or not, a red light can be one of the best light colors for sleeping. As it mimics a setting sun, the red color can help promote melatonin which can help aid in sleep quality.
