Rise Movers: Ages 6 to 8 years old

Ballet

The primary goal in ballet class for 6-8 year old’s is to achieve proper body alignment, focus, and breathing control—ensuring that breathing remains steady without visible abdominal movement. The class is structured into floorwork, barre, center work, and allegro. At this level, students begin to develop a more conscious understanding of turnout (en dehors), with increased emphasis on leg lines and footwork. By the end of the course, students are expected to have memorized and performed at least 25 different ballet steps both theoretically and practically.

Class Schedule:

Mondays: 4:50 pm – 5:50 pm

Saturdays: 3:20 pm – 4:20 pm

Tap

Tap for ages 6-8 introduces students to foundational tap technique and terminology, including steps such as flaps, cramp rolls, and basic time steps. Focus is placed on clarity of sound, coordination, and rhythmic accuracy. Students begin learning short rhythmic combinations and develop musical awareness while building strength and balance.

Fridays: 3:55 pm – 4:40 pm

Jazz

Jazz for ages 6-8 introduces students to foundational jazz techniques including pliés, tendus, jazz walks, and simple turns and jumps. This class develops flexibility, strength, and musicality while promoting coordination and spatial awareness. Students begin learning short choreographed combinations to build memory, timing, and performance skills. Leap away!

Hip-Hop

Hip-hop for ages 6-8 is to establish a strong technical base in hip-hop, including grooves, footwork, isolations, and freestyle. Students will develop body awareness and rhythm through choreographed routines and drills. By the end of the course, dancers will have memorized and performed multiple combinations, encouraging performance skills and creativity. Let’s go Rise Movers!
